"Hey Ludwig!" you called brightly as you stepped through the threshold to your favorite German's house. "Where are you at? I gotta ask you something!"

You walked through Ludwig Beilschmidt's large, extremely clean appartment without a second thought, and found him in his small office, hunched over papers. Your surprise was limited at his current situation. .

"Guten tag," he muttered without looking up at you. His bright blue eyes were concentrated on the printed words on the various papers he had spread out before him. The man looked like he hadn't slept in days. His hair wasn't in it's usual gelled back look, but hung messily around his face. Thin-framed reading glasses were perched upon his nose, concealing dark circles under his frosty blue eyes.

"Ludwig, when was the last time you slept?" You asked slowly, one eyebrow raised. Ludwig merely shrugged, still not giving you a glance. You furrowed your brow and stepped closer to the desk until he finally looked up.

"Yes, vhat is it?" He asked in exasperation, shuffling his paperwork between his hands for the umpteenth time. "I'm kind of busy right now, ____,"

"We're going to a party tonight, remember? Your brother's birthday?" you prompted, taking Ludwig's papers from his hands and setting them up on the large bookshelf to your left. "Don't tell me you forgot about Gilbert's birthday."

Ludwig sighed, running a hand through his blonde hair in an attempt to keep it out of his face. "I remembered it," he muttered, "I just didn't plan on going,"

"Gilbert would come to your party," you said stiffly, folding your arms. You were determined to get this man out of the house and drunk off his ass, he needed it. "Come on, he's your brother. It's only one night."

"Ja but he vould come even if I begged him not to," Germany argued, "Und I don't even have parties. You just come over and we play chess und drink until I can't see straight,"

"I am the party," you explained. "Come on, Lud! You promised!"

"My papaers.." He argued meekly, supressing a yawn.

"Can wait until tomorrow," you finished, walking around to the other side of his desk to stand directly behind him. You reached up and started massaging his tense shoulders until he gave in and relaxed, leaning his head against the back of the chair with his eyes shut. This is what you usually did to make him give in to your demands.

Ludwig let out a content sigh. "Can't ve just stay here vhile you do zhis?" he mumbled.

"No way, I'm going to the party, and I definitely need my main man to be there with me." you said brightly, letting go of him and walking to the door of his office. "I'm going to my place to get ready. I'll pick you up in an hour, I'm driving,"

"Scheiße, will die verrückte Frau zu fahren," Ludwig growled. "Fine, but tell mein bruder to lay low on zhe alcohol. I'm trying to quit, to set an example for Kiku,"

"Okie dokie," you replied cheerily before walking out of his apartment to your own, the one right next to his. As soon as you were in your slightly cozier abode, you whipped out your cell phone and punched in Gilbert's number. He answered on the second ring.

"You may speak to zhe awesome me," He called loudly, "Vhat is it?"

"Hey Gil, it's me," you said, pacing around the small island in your kitchen. "Ludwig's trying to stop drinking, and he's already stressed as Hell."

"You vant to get him vasted?"

"Yep,"

"Kesesese~ I always knew I liked you more zhan his other girly friends. I'll have Alfred bring more booze,"

"Excellent. Be there in an hour or so," you said. "And wait, I'm not his girl-"

The phone clicked. Gilbert had hung up.

You sighed, and grabbed an outfit to change into after you showered.

~~~~~~~~~~~
You almost had your hand on the knob to Ludwig's house when it opened by the owner himself. He wore a black suit with a blue tie and vest underneath. He gave you a small smile and held out his arm to you.
"You look beautiful, Schatz," he said awkwardly, setting himself into the passenger side of your (f/c) car. You smiled a little, and looked slightly to the side to hide your pink cheeks. You yourself were wearing a black dress with heels in an attempt to reach his height, but it didn't seem to be working out to well. Your (h/l) (h/c) hair was styled to frame your face, and your make-up was done to give your (e/c) eyes a bit of pop.
You thought you did a nice job.
"Oh crap we're going to be late," you muttered, jamming the key into the ignition and revving the engine.
You had no clue why, but Ludwig always seemed to tense up considerably when you drove.
Anyway, the two of you arrived just as the party began to kick into full swing. Almost everyone was there, and you practically had to drag Ludwig out of the car. You two walked up to Gilbert's house and walked in, just as Gilbert himself walked past.
"Hey Brohas!" Gilbert yelled over the pounding music, "Have some beer!"
With that, he forced a tall glass of foamy, amber liquid up to Germany's mouth and succeeded in getting Ludwig to drink it.
"Okay my awesome vork here is done. Have fun at the party Vest! Kesesese~"
Gilbert's silver hair disappeared among the bobbing heads of the party guests, leaving Ludwig to glare at you.
"I zhought you said you'd tell him no alcohol," he growled, crossing his arms and glowering down at your small frame. You shrugged innocently and grinned.
"Oh well, what's done is done. No sense refusing drinks tonight!" you declared, pulling Ludwig over to the makeshift bar that consisted of two tables thrust together, a giant cooler, and Francis in a kitty costume.
"Believe me, you don't want to know 'ow I got stuck doing zhis," France muttered before winking at two girls in the far corner of the room. "What can I get you tonight, ma chère?" he continued, directing his gaze at you.
"Strongest stuff you've got for two," you said, "I don't have any plans on remembering tonight."
"Oui," France said, pulling out two shot glasses and mixing several different bottles into the equation. "Down several of these and tonight will go by faster zhan you zhink."
"Thanks!" You said brightly, taking a shot and thrusting the other in Ludwig's hands before walking over towards the snack bar. Ludwig took his shot and followed close behind.
"Oi! Not going to tip the bartender eh?" Francis called out angrily.
~~~~~~~

Somehow during the night, you and Ludwig had gotten separated, and you ended up playing three fuzzy hours of CoD with Alfred. But soon your eyes began to get heavy, and you decided to go downstairs to find your friend.

Ludwig, was found at the bar, with a beer in his hand. His face was flushed, and a lazy grin was spread across his face. When he caught sight of you his grin grew even bigger, and he stumbled over to attempt to hug you.

"Jesus!" you muttered, half supporting the drunken man who had still not let go of his beer. "I think you should sit down, Lud. I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut off the alcahol on your part for tonight,"

Ludwig nodded lazily and set down the beer, allowing you to walk him to an idle couch. You sat down next to him, noting that his jacked and vest were nowhere to be found, only his white button-down shirt and black pants were still on him.

"Where's your jacked and vest, Ludwig?" you asked slowly, pronouncing each word in exaggeration. Ludwig shrugged.

"Vodka makes your clothes fall off," he explained happily. "Ivan brought it,"

"Ivan?" you asked sharply, looking around the dimly let room. A few people were passed out, but sure enough, there was Ivan, a drink in one hand, and Glbert's head in the other. Both of them looked perfectly happy with the situation.

"How'd he even get here?" you asked thickly, knowing Gilbert and Ivan's distaste for each other. Ludwig hiccuped.

Mentally waving away the oddity, you smiled at your drunken friend and hooked arms with him. "You probably aren't going to remember this, but you're glad I made you come, right?"

"Ja," Ludwig slurred, rummaging through his pockets. He pulled out a small package, which he forced into your hands before attempting to sit on one knee. It was more of a confused position, but it made you smile nonetheless.

"Will you marry me?" he asked sweetly and slightly confused, reaching out to hold your hand. You looked down at the ring pop he had probably taken out of the candy bowl earlier that night and smiled, opening it up and slipping it on. Ludwig's face lit up like the sun, and he tackled you onto the couch.

"Ich liebe dich," he said softly, cradling you in his warm arms. You assumed this was just the alcohol talking, and told yourself not to believe a word that was coming out of his mouth, but in all honesty, you wanted to.

"I love you too, Ludwig," you sighed, leaning your head on his chest. You didn't remember falling asleep.

~~~~~~~~~~
"Rise und shine losers!" came a loud, booming voice. You groaned and cracked one eye open to glare at Gilbert, who seemed healthy as ever. You couldn't say the same for anyone else.
There were groaning people everywhere, on the floor, halfway on the chair- wherever someone would fit, really. You sat yourself up to find yourself pleasingly fully clothed. A dark, thick jacket was draped over you, and before you could fully remember the contents of last night, a small glass of water was thrust into your hands with two aspirin already fizzing inside.
"Drink it, your head wont hurt so much," Arthur said soothingly. You took a sip of the drink and looked around the trashed living room once more.
"Where's Ludwig?" you asked groggily after you finished off the drink.
"I haven't seen him this morning," Gilbert yelled from the other room, causing others who were just waking up to wince and glare in his direction. You got up from the couch and draped the jacket that obviously belonged to your new German "husband" around your shoulders.
"My car is still here," you called over to Gilbert, "Maybe he's still here too?"
"Ja, maybe- wait a minute vhere is mein car?!" Gilbert said quickly, running outside to find his red Ferrari  missing. "That potato bastard!" he yelled, quoting Lovino. It didn't make sense, considering Gilbert loved potato's as well, but you decided not to question his motives.
You walked out to your own car, and briefly wondered if you should bring up with Gilbert that Spain was passed out on the roof, but decided against it. You had the keys in the ignition and drove the short distance to your apartments in five minutes. Sure enough, Gilbert's missing car was parked in the lot.
You decided to check for Ludwig in his own house, and walked in slowly, listening for any noises. There was a rustling coming from his office once again, and you called out to make yourself known before invading any further.
"Hold on!" Ludwig called from his office, signaling you to stay put. You sat down on his couch and waited patiently for him to come out, thinking of last nights events. You idly started chewing on the blue rasberry ring pop.
Maybe he was embarrassed?
Maybe he was angry?
Maybe he didn't mean it?
You chewed on your lip as these thoughts raced through your head. The deep clearing of Ludwig's throat snapped you out of your worries and onto him.
Damn he looked nice. His hair was slicked back, and a different suit replaced the one that had become Gilbert's new egg hunt. His eyes looked nervous, and he fiddled with his jacket before speaking.
"Last night didn't go as I planned," he muttered, looking directly at you. Your heart sank.
Of course he didn't mean it. It was just the booze talking, after all.
"I meant to propose like zhis, but Liquor tends to give me more confidence as vell as stupidity,"
You were still stuck on the word 'Propose'. He couldn't mean.. No, he just couldn't.
But sure enough, he dropped to one knee in front of you, and held out a small black box for your inspection. Your breath caught in your throat as you slowly opened the box to reveal a delicate sterling silver ring, with a single diamond in the center. It was shaped like a heart being held by two hands of silver.
"Ludwig," you murmured, finally tearing your eyes from the ring to look at him. His eyes were pleading.
"I'm sorry, but you already got me a ring," you said quietly, waggling the blue raspberry ring pop in his view. The slightest smile touched your lips and he let out a sigh.
"Oh please just let me put it on you so I don't have a heart attack," he sighed, reaching out for your hand. You smiled and took off the candy, allowing him to slide on the engagement ring onto your ring finger. It was a perfect fit.
"That's a yes, by the way," you said softly, wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him fiercely, refusing to let him go. You could feel him sigh in content against your lips before he wrapped his own arms tightly around your waist. One of his hands found it's way into your hair, and the other kept you firmly against him by your waist.
"You know," you murmured after you finally pulled away to lean your forehead against his, "You've still got Gil's car."
"If he really vants it he can come get it," Ludwig replied with a small laugh. "I'm not vasting any more time vithout you, Liebe,"
I'm writing this at four in the morning. Sorry if I've made Ludwig too OOC, but I picture him a happy drunk.
I don't own Hetalia
I don't think I own you either.
I'm using google translate for the German, so I don't trust it's accuracy. If you know of a better translating site then please let me know xD
